Codex·Chapter IX

Announcements, Death & Reveals

Each day begins with the host announcing what happened during the night.

Morning announcements

The Town is told

  • Who died during the night.
  • Who had a bleed or ignite applied during the night.
  • The role of anyone who died (unless their body was destroyed).

The Town is never told

  • What or who caused players to die.
  • Any kind of protection (unless Divine Protection when triggered).

For Example..

Ash died during the night and was the Seer.

Timmy is bleeding.

is announced, but

Catz is attacked but protected.

is NOT announced.
Why this matters Was Ash attacked but not protected? Or was she attacked, protected but made frail? Did someone make Timmy bleed? Or did he get attacked and healed? This leaves the Town with limited information about the true nature of events, sparking discussion and deduction.

Death reveals

When a player dies, their role is revealed to everyone.

Two things break that:

The body is destroyed

Incinerate and Remove destroy the body. The Town learns that the player died, but not what they were.

Changed roles

A player who was transformed or assumed another role reveals their current role.

On Death abilities

Roles with an On Death ability trigger it as they die (unless they were incinerated or removed).

Ghosts

Dead players become ghosts.

  • Ghosts can talk freely to each other. The living can’t hear them.
  • Ghosts can’t vote, use abilities or influence the game.
